- Martha was born in Gonzales, Nacogdoches, TX according to the death certificate of her daughter, Candace Ann Hurt.
- About 1851/52 she married Andrew Jackson Burk (marriage record is not in Nacogdoches County). Andrew Jackson Burk died on 16 October 1862 at Des Arc, AR (Civil War).
- About 1868 Martha married James R. Hill. They lived in Milam County for years. Martha must have been visiting with her daughter, Candace, in Coleman County at the time of her death (she may have been there because of health issues).
- According to the 1850 Nacogdoches County Census, Andrew Jackson Burk is married to a woman named Mary, age 21, born TN and has a baby girl, Louisa. Martha is enumerated in the household of her mother, Rhoda V. Maddox Berry Dikes Stovall and her stepfather, Thomas Hugh Stovall.

Lovick served as a Private under Capt William Mitchell Logan Jr's Company of 2nd Regiment Volunteers, 3rd Infantry Company. Volunteers were listed as "Sons of DeWitt Colony Texas" This Company consisted of 33-Privates, 2-Sergeants and 2-Leiutenants
