Lenora Bohannon died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Valley Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Myrtle Lenora (Thompson) Bohannon was born February 18, 1917 to Willie Hiott and Ada (Windham) Thompson in Silver Valley, Coleman County, Texas. She attended Silver Valley and Novice schools, graduating in 1934. She was a bookkeeper in Coleman until her marriage to Robert Ernest Bohannon on April 29, 1948. Following their marriage, they moved to Bakersfield, Texas where he was employed by Bland and Scott Oil Company and she was a homemaker until 1971. In 1971 they became the proprietors of The Bakersfield Exxon Station and convenience store. Upon their retirement in 1982 they returned to Coleman, Texas where they resided on South Concho Street until his death in 2004. From 2004 until her death, she was a resident of Holiday Hill Nursing Home. She was a life-long Methodist.

She is survived by her only son Jerry of Katy, Texas; cousin, Juanita Thompson Shields of Novice and Abilene, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edwin and Dorothy Bohannon of Abilene, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters Florence Thompson and Bernice Casey, her brother Marlin Thompson and nephew John Willie (Bill) Casey.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to The Glaucoma Foundation, 80 Maiden Lane, Suite 700, New York, NY 10038.

Family visitation will be held Friday, October 29 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
