Cecil E. Ray, 96, of Lubbock [Lubbock Co, TEXAS] passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010. He was born Feb. 28, 1914 in Coleman, [Coleman Co] Texas to Isaac Willis and Agnes Mary (Mitchell) Ray. He graduated from Content High School in Runnells County and moved to Lubbock in 1939.

Cecil served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Maud Alice Tyson April 7, 1940 in Novice, [Coleman Co] Texas. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 1977. Cecil worked for Baldridge Bakery for 40 years before retiring. He was a longtime member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sisters, Grace Killingsworth of Del Rio and Opal Henson of Monahans; two brothers, James A. "Butch" Ray of Lubbock and Ronold Ray of Monahans; several nieces & nephews; and very dear lifelong friends, the Foster family.

He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.

Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park [Lubbock, Lubbock Co, TEXAS] under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
