Mikel Gorden Cate

COLEMAN - Mikel Gorden Cate, 44, of Novice, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Price Mathieson, pastor of Lawn Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Atoka Cemetery.

Mr. Cate was born July 20, 1956 at Coleman to Rex Lee and Leota Mae [sic, s/b May] Bullard Cate. He was graduated from Novice High School and received his B.S. degree from West Texas State University, and his teaching certificate from Angelo State University. He had been a geologist for many years and had begun teaching school recently. He returned to Coleman County in 1994. He was a member of Lawn Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Rex and Leota Cate of Novice; a daughter, Crystallyn Michelle, of Weslaco; a grandson, Johnathon, of Weslaco; a sister, Cynthia Cate-Hamilton; two brothers, Rodney and wife, Charlene Cate, of Wichita Falls and Charles and wife, Isabelle Cate, of Austin; nieces and nephews, Kymbirlee and Johann Jeschke, Joseph Holcombe, Calee Jo Holcombe, Seth Holcombe, Stephanie and Wayne Thompson, Christina and Michael Johnson, Catherine Cate, Alexandre Cate; and great nephews, Trevor and Jayson Thompson.
