Family Story
SARTOR Immigration to TEXAS from SOUTH CAROLINA
Told by Paula BOOTH HAYNES

[editorial comment]
[email from Paula BOOTH HAYNES posted in Research Notes.]

"Many of the Sartor relatives are buried in the New Energy Cemetery in Crockett. The Sartors moved from Union [Union Co], SC to Crockett [Houston Co] TX after or about the time of the Civil War, I think. My grandfather James Gross then moved to Bronte [Coke Co] TX, then to Goldsboro [Coleman] TX. His brother, Henry settled in Abilene [Taylor and Jones Cos] and the others stayed in Crockett. My mother was born in Bronte. Most of the younger brothers and sisters were born in Goldsboro. My grandfather was about 12 when the family moved to Crockett. He always had the South Carolina southern accent.

Some of Uncle Henry's family stayed in Abilene. His son John was a plumber and I think some of the grandsons and maybe great-grandsons have been in the plumbing business. One of the grandsons died within the last year."
